CHSP’s Nutrition Treatment program offering telehealth counseling for campus, community members
Ohio University’s Nutrition Treatment Program has announced a new, free telehealth nutrition counseling program that is available to faculty, staff, students and community members.
The program, which will take place fall 2020, consists of three, one-on-one nutritional counseling sessions that will be led by a senior student within the College of Health Sciences and Professions’ (CHSP) Dietetics program and supervised by a registered dietitian.
The counseling sessions consist of two, three-day food record nutritional analyses, nutritional education and personalized coaching tailored to meeting client goals.
Due to COVID-19, all counseling sessions will be completed remotely via Microsoft Teams.
“COVID-19 is pushing more practitioners to gain skills in telehealth, and we see this program as a win-win for our students and our clients,” said Dr. Jana Hovland, assistant clinical professor of food and nutrition within CHSP’s School of Applied Health Sciences and Wellness. “Through this program, our students will gain experience applying counseling skills with a real client in a supportive environment, and our community members will gain the opportunity to improve their health – for free.”
