Fall Semester phased reopening updates announced
Ohio University has released updates to the phased reopening plan for Fall 2020. President Nellis shared plans for the phased reopening for Fall Semester last week. For the health and safety of our University community, only a limited number of students will return to campus at the start of the semester, and regional campuses will follow a hybrid approach.
Students permitted to return in Phase 1 are those who require in-person experiences throughout the semester to meet accreditation or require access to essential, on-campus equipment or facilities. A list of academic programs included in Phase 1 can be found on our Be Safe Bobcats website. Undergraduate students included in Phase 1 have received direct notification from the University Registrar and all graduate students eligible to return will be notified by Aug. 7.
All other Athens students will start the Fall semester Aug. 24 through remote instruction at least through Sept. 27. Beginning Sept. 28, we will increase face-to-face courses as much as possible, guided by public health experts and informed by the effectiveness of safety measures implemented during Phase 1. Ohio University is committed to notifying all students enrolled in Fall 2020 courses of their eligibility to return as part of a Phase 2 no later than Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Undergraduate students on all campuses who wish to arrange an online-only option have the ability to do so by calling the Core Advising team by e-mail at advisingcenter@ohio.edu or phone at 740-566-0340.
