OUPD announces retirement of Captain Brian Kapple

The Ohio University Police Department (OUPD) is announcing the retirement of Captain Brian Kapple. Kapple’s last day will be Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Kapple began his career as a full-time police officer with OUPD in 1998. He would leave for another employment opportunity in 2002 before being rehired and settling in at OUPD in 2006. During his tenure at OUPD, Kapple held various duties from patrol to investigations to supervision.

Chief Andrew Powers shared his thoughts on the career of Capt. Kapple.

“Capt. Kapple served the Ohio University community faithfully for over 17 years,” said Chief Powers. “He worked in numerous roles over the course of his career, including assignments as a patrol officer, detective, sergeant, lieutenant, and captain. We will miss Brian and wish him well in retirement.”

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, rather than meet in person, those who want to send well-wishes may direct them to Kapple’s email at kapple@ohio.edu.
