Dr. Mick Andzulis, recently promoted to chair of the marketing department, has been working hard to ensure that his faculty succeeds, especially during the pandemic.

During his time at Ohio University, Dr. Andzulis has served in various department, College of Business, and University-level roles, including his most recent promotion to the chair of the marketing department in July 2020. In this position, he has been taking action to provide the department faculty with the information, online resources, and best practices they need to meet the dynamic classroom demands of the pandemic.

“Although Mick has transitioned into department chair at a difficult time, his positive attitude and servant leadership are key in guiding the marketing department forward. Dr. Hartman, the former chair, built a culture that empowers us as faculty and Mick continues to lead this charge,” said Dr. Lisa Beeler, director of diversity & inclusion and internships for the Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre. “He empowers us to find innovative solutions and to contribute in each of our unique ways. I think he is the type of person we all want to be working with and for.”

Dr. Andzulis has played a major role in restructuring class sizes so that the sections are manageable for faculty while maximizing the potential for student-faculty interaction, and hopes to continue this task in the future.

In addition to his new role as marketing department chair, Dr. Andzulis also serves as director of academics for the Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre; is president of the College of Business faculty; and is a College of Business Faculty Senate alternate. He is also a member of the Transportation and Parking Services committee and was recently invited by the Provost to join the University’s Budget Study Group.

“Mick leads the marketing department with a collaborative leadership style that emphasizes student success and professional development,” said Dr. Katie Hartman, director of undergraduate programs & assessment and former chair of the marketing department. “For students, Mick is devoted to creating a culture that emphasizes student opportunities and growth through the learning journey. For the faculty, Mick advocates for professional development that has a direct impact on educational quality.Mick’s years of professional experience combined with his academic training enables him to balance his internal and external roles.”

Outside of his various leadership positions, Dr. Andzulis has contributed to improving the College of Business education by creating the sales strategy & technology course, in which he secured Ohio University’s spot as a founding member of the HubSpot Educational Partners Program. He also created the MBA sales leadership course, which is part of the new graduate sales certificate.

As a way of allowing highly qualified Schey sales certificate students to complete a graduate sales certificate while they are still in their undergraduate programs, Dr. Andzulis helped launch the first Accelerated Graduate Pathway program at the University.

“We have folks who are industry leaders and legends with multi-decade experience leading marketing efforts for companies, academics publishing at the highest levels of the most elite journals in our field, and the best, most innovative educators at any university, anywhere,” said Dr. Andzulis. “Our centers, including the Schey Sales Centre and the Center for Consumer Research and Analytics are world class, delivering the most qualified student interns and graduates to leading companies around the nation and world, and it is the hard work of all of our faculty working together that is the fuel that makes it all happen. I’m just lucky enough to have a championship team that makes me look good.”
