Ohio University will require students to take mail-in COVID-19 test before Spring Semester return

In response to the current rate of spread and to keep our campuses safe in the spring, Ohio University has invested in an increased testing capacity for the upcoming Spring Semester.

All students will be required to take a mail-in COVID-19 test before they return to campus in January.

In preparation for this increased testing frequency, Ohio University has developed a partnership with Vault Health, which provides a saliva COVID test that is one of the most accurate on the market.

Vault will provide at-home tests for students to complete and mail-in for results before they are able to return to campus.

Once back on campus, students will also participate in regularly scheduled asymptomatic tests. Those who live on the Athens campus will test every week, and off-campus Athens students will test every other week. Regional campus students and employees who participate in on-campus activities will also test every other week.

This new asymptomatic testing program will run out of the University’s tennis complex on the Athens campus (next to the Ping Center) and will have the capacity to process 1,000 tests a day.

The University will also continue to use CVS for wide-net asymptomatic testing to help contain outbreaks.
