Fairfield County Workforce Center to Offer New Courses

The Fairfield County Workforce Center will begin offering new courses this February. Ohio University Lancaster in partnership with Condensed Curriculum International will offer students the training needed to enter the workforce as a Clinical Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy Technician, or Patient Care Technician. Hocking College will also launch its Ready to Work program to prepare students for a career in HVAC.

“Meeting the workforce needs of Fairfield County area employers is vital,” Dean of Campus and Community Relations, Jarrod Tudor, said. “Ohio University Lancaster is committed to Fairfield County and to offering top-notch training to prepare students for immediately entering new careers in health care.”

The new health care courses will blend in-person at the Fairfield County Workforce Center and virtual instruction through a learning management system. Two courses will begin February 22, 2021: Clinical Medical Assistant and Phlebotomy Technician. Clinical Medical Assistant class will meet in-person on Mondays and virtually on Wednesdays. Phlebotomy Technician class will meet in-person on Tuesdays and virtually on Thursdays. An additional health care offering will begin March 22: Patient Care Technician.

Hocking College will be offering its HVAC Ready to Work program, beginning March 1st, 2021 at the Fairfield County Workforce Training Center. This 13-week course will prepare students for entry-level work in the heating, ventilation, and cooling industry, providing students certifications in NATE, EPA, and NCCER.

"Hocking College is excited to be kicking off the Center's Ready to Work programs with HVAC training that provides a pathway to employment through short-term, stackable industry-recognized certifications."

The Fairfield County Workforce Center, located at 4465 Coonpath Rd. NW in Carroll, is a collaborative partnership between the Fairfield County Commissioners, Ohio University Lancaster and the Russ College of Engineering, and Hocking College. The partnership focuses on economic development through training and workforce development.
