Ohio University names Joe Trubacz as interim VP for finance and administration
Ohio University President Hugh Sherman has announced the appointment of Joe Trubacz as the University’s Interim Vice President for Finance and Administration, beginning on Aug. 30.
The appointment follows the June announcement that Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration Deb Shaffer would step down from her position Aug. 30 with plans to retire. Shaffer will move into the role of special consultant to the Ohio University president for the upcoming academic year.
Trubacz has served in finance and administration leadership positions at higher education institutions for more than 30 years. Most recently, he held the position of interim vice president and chief financial officer for the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida.
“Joe Trubacz is the perfect fit for this position. He has extensive experience serving as a vice president for finance and administration at different institutions and has also held the position of interim chief financial officer at a major university,” President Sherman said. “The search committee was very impressed with his transparency and his collaborative leadership style, and I am proud to have him serving on our leadership team.”
Trubacz’s contract with Ohio University is for nine months. The national search for the University’s permanent vice president for finance and administration will begin during the fall semester.
In addition to his time at the University of Central Florida, Trubacz has also served as vice president for finance and administration at St. Cloud State University, regional vice chancellor for administration and finance for the University of South Florida St. Petersburg, and senior vice president for finance and administration for the Colorado School of Mines.
He earned his M.B.A, Accounting from New Hampshire College and his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire.
Shaffer also serves as CFO and treasurer of the Ohio University Foundation. The Foundation is conducting a separate search to identify its next CFO, and an announcement from the Foundation is expected prior to Shaffer completing her term later this month.
