Ohio University announces search committee for vice president for student affairs

Ohio University has begun the national search for its next vice president for student affairs after the former vice president for student affairs, Jason Pina, announced his departure in fall of 2020.

The search committee for the next vice president for student affairs is chaired by Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion Gigi Secuban and Scripps College of Communication Dean Scott Titsworth. The committee hopes to announce finalists for the position by early November with the goal of having the next vice president in place by January of 2022.

“Our number one focus at Ohio University is on our students,” President Hugh Sherman said. “It is essential that the leader selected for this important position has a proven track record of success in supporting students and advancing the student experience."

Additional information will be provided as the search progresses, including details about opportunities for the University community to interact with the finalists.

The search committee members include:

  • Carissa Anderson, Associate Dean of Regional Higher Education
  • Jenn Bennett, Executive Director of Wellbeing
  • David Nguyen, Associate Professor and Interim Associate Dean, Research and Graduate Studies
  • Jane Roche, Margaret Boyd Scholar and student in Political Science Pre-Law and Law, Justice, and Culture Certificate
  • Gwyn Scott, Associate Vice President for Auxiliaries
  • Taylor Tackett, Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Community Standards and Student Responsibility
  • Tamika Williams, Assistant Director, Career & Diversity, Equity, Inclusion

Additional committee members may be added depending on their availability.

In lieu of a search firm, the search will be conducted by University Human Resources Strategic Search Services. The lead search committee services provider is Cat Russell, HR liaison for strategic HR programs. Megan Vogel, chief of staff for the Division of Student Affairs, will provide support.

Jenny Hall-Jones has served as the interim vice president for student affairs since September 2020. Hall-Jones, who has held several key roles at Ohio University over the past 25 years, previously served as senior associate vice president for student affairs and dean of students.
