Ohio University VP, associate professor to be panelists in INSIGHT Into Diversity webinar
Two Ohio University employees will be panelists for a webinar on Sept. 20 that will focus on combatting Asian American Pacific Islanders (AAPI) racism in higher education.
The webinar is part of INSIGHT Into Diversity’s webinar series and will feature OHIO Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion Dr. Gigi Secuban and Psychology Assistant Professor Dr. Lindsay Dhanani, whose research interests include workplace discrimination and harassment and how those experiences intersect with employee health and well-being.
“I am pleased that Dr. Dhanani and I can represent Ohio University in this important webinar,” Secuban said. “Racism and discrimination come in many forms and it’s important for us to recognize and combat them at every opportunity so all can feel welcome wherever they choose to live, learn and work.”
The webinar will take place at 1 p.m. and is free. Anyone interested in registering can visit https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_A-fGC7reREWnj7-K-S7uoA. The webinar will also be livestreamed to INSIGHT Into Diversity’s Facebook page. INSIGHT Into Diversity is the oldest and largest diversity magazine and website in higher education.
The panelists include AAPI professionals with top positions in higher education. The panelists will discuss what leaders can do to support policies and practices that can help AAPI promotion and achievement.
Secuban was named to the national board of INSIGHT Into Diversity in the spring. She joined OHIO in 2018 and works to promote diversity, inclusion and equality in the OHIO community.
OHIO has also received INSIGHT Into Diversity’s Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award the last three years. The HEED Award is presented to colleges and universities across the U.S. and Canada that showcase an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion.
