Equity and Social Justice Committee offers professional development conference in January

The Division of Student Affairs Equity and Social Justice Committee is thrilled to again offer a live, half-day professional development conference for employees on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022. The exact time is to be determined, but it will be sometime between 8 a.m. and noon.

This is an opportunity for internal and external faculty, staff, and graduate assistants to serve as presenters or facilitators for the conference's breakout sessions. You do not need to be affiliated with DOSA or Ohio University to submit a program proposal. All presentations will be 60 minutes in length and should include an emphasis on integrating at least one of the following topics into professional practice:

  1. Provide learners with strategies for dismantling racial inequity and creating more inclusive spaces.
  2. Provide learners with techniques to better engage their communities.
  3. Explore important terms and/or concepts regarding equity and social justice.
  4. Provide learners with tips for communicating with and validating people from diverse backgrounds.

Please note that all sessions will be live so presenters must be available to present on Jan. 6 via Microsoft Teams or in person at Ohio University. There is no compensation for presenting; however, if a letter documenting this service would be helpful, let us know as we would be happy to oblige.
