Jneanne Hacker to assume top role in Housing and Residence Life

The Division of Student Affairs is excited to announce the appointment of Jneanne Hacker as the Executive Director of Housing and Residence Life, effective Dec. 1, 2021.

The appointment follows Hacker serving in an interim capacity for the past nine months, offering significant leadership during one of the most challenging times for campus health and safety standards in the institution’s history.

“It is incredibly rare to find a professional with the combination of skills and leadership that Jneanne has demonstrated,” Gwyn Scott, Associate Vice President of Auxiliaries, said. “We couldn’t be more grateful for her continued service to OHIO and look forward to many more years of successful campus-wide collaboration with Jneanne at the helm.”

Hacker brings more than 30 years of higher education experience across Housing and Residence Life, Culinary Services, capital planning, and Conference Services at Ohio University. Throughout her tenure, she has reimagined operational planning, fiscal responsibility and student success through innovative programs and services, including the reorganization of the department to deliver a dynamic residential experience prioritizing student well-being and retention.

Hacker earned her B.A. in 2002, and her M.A. in Higher Education in 2014, both from Ohio University.

The executive director role was filled following an internal Ohio University search. The position provides vision, leadership, and oversight of a team of 30 staff and 300 student employees. The department is responsible for 36 residence halls with a capacity for 7,850 student residents.

Hacker’s demonstrated success with collaborative working relationships across the institution have advanced the priorities of the department, Student Affairs, and Ohio University at large.
