Division for Diversity and Inclusion announces interim leadership appointment for Women's Center, OMSAR

Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion Dr. Gigi Secuban announced interim leadership for the Women’s Center and the Office of Multicultural Success and Retention (OMSAR).

MaryKathyrine Tran has been named interim director of the Women’s Center effective Nov. 5, 2021.

“MaryKathyrine was the inaugural assistant director of the Women's Center and has been a strong advocate for our students,” Secuban said. “I am thankful she has agreed to serve in this leadership role to ensure continuity of service for our community.”

Tran, who has served as assistant director of the Women’s Center since February 2019, has been widely recognized for her contributions for underrepresented students. She will serve in the interim role until July 2022.

Lisa Flowers-Clements, the assistant director for academic support and advising in the Division for Diversity and Inclusion, will support Tran as interim assistant director of the Women's Center through July 2022. She will also continue to serve OMSAR in her current role throughout the transition.

Secuban also announced Chris Fowler and Caryn Bailey as interim co-directors of OMSAR. Fowler will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and supervision of staff while Bailey will manage the department’s diversity certificate program and teach INST-2900, Special Topics in International Studies.

“Chris and Caryn bring critical skills to carry forward OMSAR’s mission,” Secuban said. “I am grateful for their continued support and leadership.”

The University will conduct a national search this spring for both director roles.
