Career Network to host spring industry fairs
Ohio University’s Career Network will host a series of industry career fairs this spring to provide students with tailored engagement opportunities for networking with employers.
The niche fairs align with the OHIO Guarantee+ Graduation Plan, which provides students with the support necessary to graduate on time and on plan, with career mentorship along the way.
"Our industry-focused approach strengthens, expands, and diversifies recruiting relationships to maximize career opportunities with alumni, while allowing students to better understand various industries and how to apply what they learn in the classroom to a thriving career," Associate Vice Provost Jen Murphy said.
In addition to helping Bobcats search for a job or internship, the career fairs also highlight the versality of students' majors across multiple industries and are designed to be smaller events to feel more approachable to students.
"Big events like the Career and Internship Fair that we've hosted in years past can feel intimidating," Aaron Sturgill, interim executive director of career and employer engagement, said. "Industry fairs promote networking in a more intimate setting. They also allow students to be more intentional about what type of employers they would like to meet. We encourage Bobcats from all majors to explore industries and attend the career fairs that interest them."
With collaboration from University leadership, the Career Network carefully made the decision to host several industry fairs in-person this year.
"As part of our commitment to providing meaningful career engagement experiences, we wanted to give employers and students multiple ways to connect," Sturgill added. "Recruiters can't wait to meet with Bobcats face-to-face, and we're implementing COVID protocols to keep everyone safe – including masking, social distancing, and monitoring capacity and traffic flow in event spaces."
Faculty and staff are encouraged to share the networking opportunities below with students to promote their career readiness. More details can be found here.
