Senior Associate Vice President for Facilities Management and Safety and Chief Facilities Officer Steve Wood announces intent to step down in September

Steve Wood, Ohio University’s senior associate vice president for facilities management and safety and chief facilities officer, has announced his intent to step down effective September 16, 2022.

“During Steve’s tenure, Ohio University has successfully completed many critical projects that aligned with academic programs and needs,” President Hugh Sherman said. “Thanks to Steve’s strategic leadership and professionalism, our campuses are more vibrant, sustainable, and connected.”

Wood, who joined OHIO in 2014, served as associate vice president for facilities management and safety until being promoted to senior associate vice president for facilities management and safety and chief facilities officer in June 2018. Over the years, he oversaw operations of the University’s Critical Incident Response Team and led efforts to safely navigate myriad crises including power outages, flooding, a major water main break, and a global pandemic, to name a few.

“Steve has done a tremendous job keeping our campus safe during extremely trying times,” Interim Vice President for Finance and Administration Joe Trubacz said. “His leadership and collegiality will be missed by all who worked with him.”

Trubacz said he will work with Wood over the summer to develop a leadership transition plan for the facilities management and safety team.
