Keeping Bobcats Informed, June 8, 2022

Bobcat Parents and Families,

Juneteenth, also known as “Emancipation Day” or the “Day of Freedom,” is both a somber and celebratory day to commemorate the Thirteenth Amendment abolishing slavery. To observe this historic day, OHIO is celebrating by hosting its second-annual community festival and health walk.

I highly encourage all of you to use this holiday to learn more about the history of slavery in our country, reflect on the principles of equality promised to all citizens, and to consider how we can continue to make respect visible in our communities -- wherever you may be located.

I look forward to seeing alumni, colleagues, friends, and members of the Athens community come together for our Juneteenth celebration!

With Bobcat pride,

Stay safe and well,

Kathy A Fahl, MSW

Dean of Students
