With the start of fall semester approaching, we want you and your student to be prepared when your fall account balance email arrives. OHIO offers three financing options to help families meet out-of-pocket college costs. You can follow this step-by-step checklist to complete all requirements for receiving and finalizing financial aid.

Your safety matters
So many of the issues we see on campus can be helped by Bobcats staying informed about resources and policies in place to keep students from being harmed or harming one another. Stay informed about critical issues.
Why you should work on campus
Eight out of 10 students prefer having a job on their own campus instead of seeking employment elsewhere. Employment on campus will result in more than just financial gains.
1) Research shows that having a job leads to better academic outcomes and builds leadership skills.
2) Working on campus will introduce you to new friendships and professional connections.
3) Feeling financially secure — or even financially flexible — reduces anxiety and helps you to cover the cost of college.
Take control of college costs
There are many options available to help you take a cost-conscious approach to covering college expenses. Here are just a few!
Apply for aid
Each year, you need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This will determine your eligibility for federal, state, and institutional financial aid — including grants (ahem, free money), work study, and loans.
Score scholarships
Funds for students are offered by Ohio University through a variety of scholarships (even after freshman year). Try hunting down scholarships outside the OHIO system through online scholarship databases.
Work for it
The data tells us there are better outcomes for students who balance studies and work. We love an on-campus job, but also consider off-campus options and side hustles (DoorDash, anyone?) to help cover education costs.

Support all students to succeed
A student struggling to meet their basic needs is not a Bobcat set up to succeed. Whether you're facing food, housing, or financial insecurity, OHIO will help.
Lacking basic needs can take a toll on your mental health too. Take a look at campus counseling services.
Prepare for fall classes
Get your schedule lined up for fall and start planning your daily routes to class.
Nervous for classes? As you advance through your degree, the classes rise in difficulty. Find free tutoring, writing assistance, academic coaching and supplemental instruction at the Academic Achievement Center on the second floor of Alden Library.
Take This Town
Join OHIO's Alumni Association for a special networking event connecting current students with graduates! Play Bobcat Bingo and connect with Bobcat alum in your area.
Students to advise admin on inclusivity
The President’s Student Cabinet for Inclusive Excellence was created last spring to gather feedback from students on the University’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. All 11 representatives have now been finalized for the upcoming school year.
OIT tech tips
New multifactor authentication — Microsoft Azure
As of July 26, OHIO replaced Duo Mobile with Microsoft Azure Multi-Factor Authentication, a more secure and user-friendly application. All OHIO students must switch from DUO and enroll in Azure if you have not already.
