News for Ohio University travelers

Information for Ohio University faculty and staff about booking and agent fees, Concur, and additional insurance that is now available on Bank of America Pcards.

Christopherson booking and agent fees no longer charged to departments

Effective July 1, 2022, OHIO employees will no longer see booking or agent fees from Christopherson Business Travel (CBT) in Concur. Executive leadership approved for these fees to be paid centrally moving forward. This applies to domestic and international travel as well as individual or group travel that is business related.

For questions please contact Finance Customer Care.

International travel available in Concur

International travel arrangements are now fully available to book in Concur without going through a travel agent. Any previous COVID restrictions on booking travel in Concur have been lifted. However, if OHIO faculty or staff are traveling internationally, please be aware of the following approvals that must be obtained before you make any arrangements:

  • Administrative unit travel requests, outside the United States, must be approved by the vice president of the planning unit. For questions, please contact financecustomercare@ohio.edu.
  • Academic unit travel exception requests should be addressed to the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost (EVPP)  for review/approval. For questions, please contact Cary Frith, chief of staff for the EVPP.

Additional insurance available on Bank of America PCards

In April, the University changed its payment card provider to Bank of America (BofA). The BofA Mastercard program provides cardholders with additional insurance coverage than what was previously provided through the JP Morgan Chase program.  A webpage has been developed to provide easy access to all the insurance information along with information about how to file a claim. This information can also be found in the cardholder’s Global Card Access account by clicking the question mark in the top-right corner, then selecting Cardholder Benefits and Features.

With the JP Morgan card program, OHIO employees were advised to only use the CTA card when booking flights on behalf of other travelers, to obtain insurance coverage.  It has been confirmed by BofA that all PCards in the University’s program provide the same benefits to all insured persons on the covered account (insured persons include person(s) employed by the company for which the account is issued, and person(s) authorized by the company for which the account is issued and for whom a ticket was purchased using the account).

This means that all BofA pcards can be used when booking a flight on behalf of another traveler, although it is still advisable to use the CTA card because the purchases on the CTA card do not count against your individual card’s monthly transaction limits.
