Keeping Bobcats Informed, Aug. 31, 2022

Bobcat Parents & Families,

Bobcats Helping Bobcats is a program that supports students who are experiencing emergencies that could impact their ability to be successful in their academics. OHIO's Emergency Microgrants fund is experiencing high demand as the cost of living rises and students struggle to afford basic needs. We have also seen an increase in visitors to the food pantry, Cats' Cupboard, which provides students access to food at no cost. Last year, over $65,000 was distributed to students facing a crisis and food was distributed to 739 pantry members.

We love supporting our Bobcats beyond the classroom, but it means our supplies dwindle quickly and we rely on student, parent, and community organizations for support throughout the year. Donations are always welcome, and ways to support these initiatives as well as how students can access these resources are located in the newsletter below.

I believe in implementing practical solutions, and I'm honored to serve as an advocate for OHIO students. We are in this together and I am here to make sure each student has what they need to take on every aspect of university life.

Warm wishes,

Kathy A Fahl, MSW

Dean of Students

Food access

Some students don't have enough to eat on a daily basis. Cats’ Cupboard provides students access to food at no cost. A community donation drop-off day occurs on the second Tuesday of the month at 9 a.m. at the bottom of Baker, or items can be dropped off any time at the donation shelves located in Baker 514.
