COVID-19 vaccine/boosters, flu shots available to OHIO community

Ohio University students, faculty and staff have several opportunities to get the flu vaccine and/or the COVID 19 vaccine/booster in the coming weeks.

COVID-19 vaccine/booster clinics on the Athens Campus

Ohio University and campus partners will be holding COVID-19 vaccine/booster clinics in the Heritage Community Clinic in Grosvenor West on the Athens Campus on Fridays in September and October. Each clinic will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until noon, beginning on Friday, Sept. 16.

No appointments are required, but it is recommended that members of the OHIO community schedule in advance if possible. 

Campus partners for the vaccine/booster clinics include Heritage College Community Health Programs, the College of Health Sciences and Professions, the School of Nursing, the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, OHIO COVID Operations, OhioHealth Campus Care, and the Athens City-County Health Department.

OHIO Faculty and Staff Resource Fair and Immunization Clinic

Ohio University Human Resources will hold the OHIO Faculty and Staff Resource Fair and Immunization Clinic on Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Convocation Center on the Athens Campus.

At this event, the COVID-19 Bivalent Booster (Pfizer) will be available along with Flu, Pneumonia, Shingles and Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis vaccinations for Ohio University employees covered by the University’s Anthem/CVS Caremark insurance plans. OHIOHealth Campus Care offers flu shots and COVID-19 vaccine/booster shots for students

OHIO students can call Campus Care at 740-592-7100 to schedule a COVID-19 vaccine/booster or a flu shot, as well as other health services. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome.

Drive-thru flu shot clinic and in-office COVID-19 vaccines

The Athens City-County Health Department will offer a drive-thru flu shot clinic and in-office COVID-19 vaccines.

The drive-thru flu shot clinic will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 20, from 9 a.m. until noon at the Athens City-County Health Department office on West Union Street. Those interested in participating are asked to bring their insurance cards. 

The Athens City-County Health Department is also offering the bivalent COVID-19 vaccine through in-office appointments.  Call 740-592-4431 to schedule an appointment.

Many pharmacies, health departments and clinics in the communities served by Ohio University also offer flu shots and COVID-19 vaccine/booster shots.
