Ohio University programs invited to apply for official Experiential Learning Space designation

An Ohio University education reaches far beyond traditional classroom walls. OHIO sets out to connect every student with a unique set of experiences that will prepare them for their next steps and for success. The Center for Advising, Career and Experiential Learning seeks to identify and designate experiential learning spaces on Ohio University’s campuses to highlight and promote awareness of and access to experiential learning opportunities and broaden student engagement.

“Ohio University has a long history of providing students with transformative experiential learning opportunities,” Lindsey Rudibaugh, Executive Director of Experiential Learning, said. “In fact, quality experiential learning has been happening at Ohio University since its very founding. The Experiential Learning Spaces designation will allow us to uplift our talented campus partners who have cultivated dynamic, interdisciplinary spaces and programs.”

To qualify as an official Experiential Learning Space, programs must meet the following criteria:

  • Interdisciplinarity
  • Authentic context
  • Student ownership of learning
  • Deep engagement
  • Facilitated reflection

The official Experiential Learning Space designation will convey the following:

  • $500 in award money to elevate the space
  • Promotion of the program to current and prospective students
  • Signage to be displayed in the space

Ohio University programs are invited to apply for Experiential Learning Space designation by Nov. 15, 2022 by completing this application form. Designees will be announced by Dec. 2, 2022.
