Jennifer Nisevich awarded the Leo Dowling Award of Excellence
Jennifer Nisevich, associate director for the International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) office at Ohio University, was recently awarded the Leo Dowling Award of Excellence. This prestigious annual award from NAFSA: Association of International Educators honors one individual from Ohio, Kentucky or Indiana who “possess qualities of compassion, integrity and leadership” in international education.
Nisevich leads with compassion and integrity in her ISSS role, where she oversees the F and J student and scholar visa programs for the University. Her student-centered approach has proven effective in helping OHIO’s global Bobcats understand the many complexities of student immigration regulations. She engages students in conversation about their short and long-term goals to make sure they reach a decision that falls within the boundaries of their immigration situation and supports their future ambitions. Nisevich also serves as an inspiring mentor to her staff members and is recognized for her empathy and mindfulness
“Jen does a great job leading our immigration team and supporting them with the complicated work of keeping the University and our international students in compliance,” said Diane Cahill, ISSS director. “This award highlights her value to the ISSS staff and international community.”
