Make your advising appointment and meet your advisor, Lori Poch

Advising is a partnership between a student and an academic advisor who work together to create educational plans to meet the student's academic, career, and personal goals. Advisors help students understand their academic options, clarify their academic goals, and make the strategic decisions that help guide them to graduation.

Lori Poch transitioned into the role of Ohio University Eastern Advising and Retention Specialist in May 2022, having been a part of the Student Services team for the past eight years.

Poch earned a Bachelor of Arts in Human Resources from Wheeling Jesuit College and a Master of Business Administration from Wheeling Jesuit University.

Co-workers describe Lori as approachable, friendly and someone who engages easily with students.

“Lori is thorough and patient in her explanations to students,” Jennifer Kellner-Muscar, OHIO Eastern Director of Student Services said. “Being a proud first-generation college student herself, Lori understands what it is like to navigate higher education on your own and cares very much about making sure our students are able to receive the support and assistance they need to be successful.”

Summer semester advising appointments are available now. Current Ohio University students can begin to register for fall semester 2023 courses beginning March 27. New students or incoming freshmen will begin registration for fall semester courses starting May 1, 2023.
