Sculpting a story: Narrative-driven ceramic exhibit opens at OHIO Southern
Ohio University Southern's Art Gallery will host an opening reception for ceramic artist Eric Pardue on Thursday, April 4.
The event will take place at the gallery located in Dingus Technology Center at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend. Light refreshments will be served during the reception.
Pardue, a talented artist based in Milton, West Virginia, brings his unique narrative-driven ceramic artwork to the gallery.
"In my current ceramic work, I am combining layers of underglaze, slips, glazes, and decals of images that I come into contact with during my daily activities into a narrative," says Pardue. "Although the references I make are personal and come from my experiences, I do intend for the viewer to build on my intentions with their own ideas and to develop their own story as they interact with the piece."
Pardue completed a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from Alfred University in Alfred, New York. He further honed his skills during a residency at Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts in Maine and an apprenticeship with New York-based ceramic artist, Jeff Shapiro. Now back in his home state, Pardue operates his studio where he delves into various ideas in clay, currently focusing on low fire earthenware with applied imagery.
The exhibit will remain open through April 25 at Ohio University Southern, providing ample opportunity for art enthusiasts and the community to experience Pardue's work.
