OHIO’s Data Security Day conference set for Oct. 9, registration now open

The third annual Data Security Day, OHIO’s cybersecurity awareness conference hosted by the Information Security Office, will be held on Oct. 9, 2024.

In previous years this event has brought an average of 80 students, faculty and staff together to learn about information security topics.

Due to the event's success in prior years, this year the Information Security Office is hosting a hybrid event that will allow participants to attend a variety of seminar-style sessions either in person or virtually. In person, attendees will join the conference in Baker University Center 240/242 while virtual attendees will be given a meeting link to join each session from their remote location.

The conference will feature topics varying from cybersecurity hygiene, the National Cybersecurity Alliance’s Oh Behave! report, the impact AI has on the threat landscape, and the ever-popular Cybersecurity Jeopardy. The full schedule is available on the Data Security Day conference website.

All students, faculty and staff invited

All OHIO students, faculty and staff are invited to join Ohio University’s Information Security Office for the 2024 Data Security Day conference. This free conference will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024, from 8:15 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. in Baker University Center 240/242. A light breakfast and lunch will be served for in-person attendees.

The Data Security Day conference is held in tandem with Cybersecurity Awareness Month. For 21 years, the President of the United States and Congress have proclaimed October to be Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

The OHIO Information Security Office uses Cybersecurity Awareness Month to help students, faculty, and staff learn more about protecting themselves online as threats to their personal information and University data grow each year.

Space at the 2024 Data Security Day conference is limited, so register online by Monday, Sept. 23, 2024, to reserve your spot.
