Applications open for fall Community Health Worker training

Applications are now open for Ohio University’s Community Health Worker Program, hosted by the Alliance for Population Health. The fall session, starting in September, will feature a hybrid model blending online and in-person classes at Ohio University Chillicothe.

Community Health Workers (CHWs) have been instrumental in fostering improved health and enhanced connections to vital health and social service resources for Ohioans. The University takes pride in offering this training at no cost, ensuring accessibility to all individuals interested in this critical role. A stipend is available for a select number of applicants. Ohio University provides all training materials, including textbooks and vital kits.

Community Health Workers play a vital role in addressing health gaps and disparities in their communities. They are the frontline workers improving the quality of care people receive.

The hybrid format offers flexibility with three in-person sessions and 100 hours of online coursework. Following completion of classroom training, participants engage in 130 supervised field hours, essential for Ohio Board of Nursing licensure. The program, tailored for adult learners, requires a significant time commitment, with both online and in-person sessions led by Instructor Kim Jones.

Find more information on the Alliance for Population Heath website. To apply, submit the online application.
