Governor DeWine appoints Richard D. Dickerson to OHIO Board of Trustees

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has appointed Richard D. Dickerson to the Ohio University Board of Trustees.

Dickerson, who has served on OHIO’s Board of Trustees as a non-voting national trustee since June 2023, was appointed by Gov. DeWine on August 2, 2024. His term will end May 13, 2033.

“The Board is pleased to welcome Mr. Dickerson as a voting member of the Ohio University Board of Trustees,” said Board of Trustees Chair Steve Casciani. “I have known Dick for over 20 years, and I’m confident that his expertise and insight will continue to further the mission of our Board and the entire University.”

Mr. Dickerson, a registered professional engineer within the state of Ohio, has served the state in numerous energy-related capacities for more than 41 years.

In 1994, he founded Utility Technologies International Corporation and currently serves as its Chairman of the Board and CEO. Additionally, he is the Chief Operating Officer of Ross Energy, an energy transmission company; he is also a partner at Structured Utility Resources, a property management company.

More recently, Dickerson has ventured into the sustainable energy sector; he is currently developing solar energy projects in reclaimed strip mine areas in southeast Ohio. Mr. Dickerson is also involved in businesses outside of the energy sector. In 2023 he founded CFG Productions a documentary film production company.

“I am honored by Governor DeWine’s appointment and eager to continue serving Ohio University in ways that will further its collective mission to deliver the most valuable university education in Ohio and lead as one of the most valued public universities in the nation,” Dickerson said.

Dickerson has been married to his wife, Joan, for 34 years; they have two children: Abby, 29, an architect, with a master’s degree from The Ohio State University and Connor, 26, an Energy Engineering graduate of Ohio University.
