Ohio University’s Academic Achievement Center earns ICLCA Learning Center Certification

Ohio University’s Academic Achievement Center was recently awarded the International College Learning Center Association (ICLCA) Learning Center Certification for 2024-2026.

“This recognition showcases our commitment to student academic success and to doing so with the highest level of excellence,” said Elizabeth Fallon, executive director of academic assistance. “We are very proud of our team, including staff professionals and student peer mentors whose work has helped us receive this designation.”

The Academic Achievement Center (AAC) was scored on criteria topics that included program and services; organizational framework; academic integrity and learning environment; funding, resources and design; staff and professional development; promotion and public relations; and assessment and evaluation.

“The AAC is doing incredible work,” said Dave Nguyen, dean of University College. “The center is helping meet student academic needs through tutoring, supplemental instruction and writing commons as well as encouraging academic help seeking through coaching. All invaluable opportunities to help students reach their success.”

The ACC provides a comprehensive array of academic support services including peer tutoring, supplemental instruction, academic coaching, homework hubs, first-generation support programs, the Writing Commons, multimedia tutoring, and 20-minute student success info sessions led by students.  The focus of these support programs and the ACC staff members is to empower students to become independent and successful learners as they work toward their degree

The ICLCA’s Center of Excellence certification promotes professional standards of excellence for learning centers, encourages centers to develop, maintain and assess quality programs and services to enhance student learning, and celebrates the outstanding achievements of centers that meet and exceed the standards like Ohio University’s Academic Achievement Center
