Ohio University releases 2024 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report in accordance with federal Clery Act

In accordance with the federal Clery Act, Ohio University has completed its 2024 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. The report is available on Ohio University’s new Clery Act and Safety Compliance website.

The 2024 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety, including such topics as crime prevention, local law-enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security on campus.

It contains crime statistics on the Athens, regional and extension campuses for the calendar years 2021, 2022 and 2023. Likewise, crime statistics include reported crimes that occurred in off-campus buildings owned or controlled by Ohio University and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.

Over the past year, the responsibility of compiling the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report has transitioned from University Equity and Civil Rights Compliance to the Office of Emergency Management and a new Clery Act and Safety Compliance Coordinator position to oversee Clery compliance for Ohio University. As part of this transition, the University recently launched a new Clery Act and Safety Compliance webpage to help inform OHIO students, faculty, staff and visitors about the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act and encourage them to review the available campus resources.

OHIO’s annual Security and Fire Safety report is made possible through the coordination of numerous campus partners, including University Equity and Civil Rights Compliance, the Office of Community Standards and Student Responsibility and the Ohio University Police Department.
