Put your putt-putt skills to the test with Libraries’ annual Alden Open

Ohio University Libraries will be hosting its yearly mini-golf Alden Open for Dads Weekend 2024 on Saturday, Nov. 2.

Golfing will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the last tee time occurring at 3:30 p.m. The event is free and open to students, parents and the entire OHIO community.

This will be the 12th year of the event with its annual course spanning across the third, fourth and fifth floors of Alden Library. There will be 18 holes to play and many opportunities to explore what the Libraries has to offer through the course.

Golf balls, clubs and scorecards can be picked up outside the fourth-floor entrance near the Wolfe Garden. The theme and course design changes every year, so it is always a new and fun-filled experience for all participants with different layouts and challenges.

Kelly Roder, events and exhibits coordinator, wrote in an email that she enjoys coordinating big, busy events like the Open and that it’s rewarding to see students enjoying their time in the Library

She mentioned that the event will give students who are less familiar with the Libraries a chance to see some of the spaces available to them and to get it on their radar.

“We [University Libraries] want to show that the Library can be a fun and interactive gathering space, whether it's turned into a golf course or it's just a regular Tuesday,” Roder wrote. “We hope it's a fun way to spend some time with their dads and take a break from schoolwork for a while.”
