OHIO community invited to International Education Week events

Ohio University will celebrate International Education Week (IEW) Nov. 18-22, 2024, with special events including the 60th anniversary of the Center for International Studies, the International Dinner and a global research symposium.

Each year, OHIO celebrates IEW in November in order to highlight the University’s excellence in global education through research, teaching and experiential learning.

This year’s theme is "Celebrating the Past, Envisioning the Future of International Education at Ohio University." The celebration will include a wide range of events for students, faculty, staff, alumni and area residents. This year's schedule of events is listed on the IEW website. Please note that events are still being added as details are finalized.

IEW 2024 Events

Friendsgiving at OHIO Zanesville

On Tuesday, Nov. 12, Ohio University Zanesville will host Friendsgiving from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Elson Hall Atrium. All members of the OHIO community are invited to attend. The Center for International Studies 60th Anniversary Celebration

Since 1964, the Center for International Studies has brought the world to Athens, and Athens to the world. Throughout IEW, the Center for International Studies will hold several 60th anniversary events, including a Welcome Reception on Nov. 15, an Alumni Welcome Dinner on Nov. 16 and the Bobcat Brunch on Nov. 17.

International Dinner

This celebration of diverse cultures and dishes offers a unique opportunity for the Ohio University community to explore the wonderful flavors, spices and traditional recipes from across continents. The International Dinner will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16.

Center for International Studies Student Documentary Film Festival

Zanté: Afro-Caribbean Dance Showing

Join the School of Dance to celebrate IEW on Tuesday, Nov. 19, beginning at 5 p.m. in Putnam Hall. You can find more information here.

International Education Week Open House

Hosted by the Ohio University Alumni Association at the Konneker Alumni Center from noon until 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20, the open house will be a vibrant celebration of global learning and cultural exchange. You can learn more about the Open House here.

Global Perspectives in Higher Education - Exploring and Expanding Inclusive Competencies workshop

Global Research Challenge Competition

Ohio University students from all academic levels are invited to present their internationally focused research or creative activity through the Global Research Challenge: Present your Research in Minutes competition. International Research/ Creative Activity Showcase

The event will take place at the Lasher Learning Center in the Schoonover Center and will involve Scripps College of Communication students presenting their research/creative work, beginning at 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22. For more information, please see this calendar listing.
