OHIO shares an update from health insurance provider Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, which administers Ohio’s health insurance plans, has informed the University that they are working to reach a new multi-year contract to ensure that the OSU Health System – including its doctors, the Wexner Medical Center and The James Cancer Center – remains in Anthem’s employer-sponsored health plans network after January 1, 2025.

Anthem has expressed optimism about the negotiations, and the University will continue to work with Anthem to ensure our employees are prepared as necessary. Anthem has also created an informational website that includes details about their negotiations and answers to frequently asked questions.

As Anthem’s negotiations progress, we want to remind you that all OHIO’s faculty, staff, and their family members, have access to Health Navigator as part of the University’s Employee Assistance Program through Impact Solutions. Health Navigator is a free service that can offer a broad range of health advisory support – from help with accessing medical specialists to assisting those who might want to explore a shift in health care providers in the event Anthem and the OSU Health System are unable to reach an agreement before the end of the calendar year.

If you are currently receiving treatment for a serious or complex condition through the OSU Health System and have questions regarding how your care could potentially be impacted after December 31, 2024, please contact the Anthem Member Service Center via the number on your Anthem ID card.
