Why did you choose Ohio University Chillicothe?
It was the best fit for me. I started my college career at another university, and was not enjoying my time. Ohio University makes me feel like I belong and I am home.
What was your ah-ha moment at Ohio University—that point where you said to yourself, “I’ve got this!”?
My first semester in the Childhood Development Center. I was taking all my education classes, and had a connection with the classes, and knew what I was doing.
How has your OHIO education prepared you for a career in education?
Absolutely, I feel completely prepared.
What was your most memorable class?
Geology with Keith Whaley. I had no idea what I was doing, but I will never forget it.
Who were your favorite professors and how did they make an impact on your life?
Maryjo Flamm Miller. Miss Maryjo is the best. She makes me feel like she truly cares about me and my college journey.
What was the hardest hill you had to climb at OHIO? And how did you overcome challenges or obstacles in your path?
I have had two children since starting my college journey. I now have a two-year-old and a four-month-old. They push me to finish and do better for them. I have also had a lot of support from professors and staff.
What are your favorite OHIO Chillicothe memories?
I have made wonderful friends. I spent Fall Semester of 2023 at Zane Trace Elementary School tutoring, and really getting to know my classmates.
What are you future plans after graduation?
I plan to substitute and hopefully find a teaching job in the summer.
