American Marketing Association names OHIO’s Ally Schatzer as finalist for national award
Ohio University’s Ally Schatzer was named as a finalist for a national award from the American Marketing Association (AMA) earlier this fall.
Schatzer, who is the assistant director for engagement for Housing and Residence Life in OHIO’s Division of Student Affairs, was named as one of three finalists for the Emerging Marketer in Higher Education award from the AMA.
This award recognizes an individual with 10 years or less experience in their higher education marketing career who has shown exceptional creativity and innovation in the field during the past academic year.
“I am truly grateful to be nominated for this award, as it represents not only a recognition of my work but also a reflection of my growth in the field of higher education marketing and communications,” Schatzer said. “As someone continually evolving in this space, this nomination inspires me to keep pushing boundaries and embracing innovative approaches to engage and connect with our Bobcats.”
The AMA is the leading global professional marketing association, providing opportunities for marketers and academics to connect with the people and resources they need to be successful.
According to the AMA website, nominees for the Emerging Marketer in Higher Education award demonstrate a visionary approach to higher education marketing and communications, incorporating traditional and/or digital methods. The nominees also show exceptional creativity, originality and effectiveness in their communications and marketing strategies, while utilizing cutting edge technologies to best reach their stakeholders.
As the assistant director for engagement for Housing and Residence Life, Schatzer supports the department in a wide range of areas, including business operations, residence life, facilities/capital planning and staff recruitment.
“Ally is a deeply committed and excellent partner who strives daily to serve our Bobcat family,” said Johnna Matulja, director for business operations for Housing and Residence Life. “Ally continually focuses on elevating our student and parent communication experience at every possible moment and has won multiple awards at our national housing professional conference that demonstrate her continual growth and persistence in developing excellent products.”
“Ally’s strength in communication, her perseverance through adversity and her dedication to students and our team are reflected in her daily work and this nomination that she so very much deserved,” Matulja said. “Her team is excited and very proud of Ally for this achievement.”
The other finalists for the award were Katelyn Mills-Erickson from the University of Iowa and Devin Purgason from Forsyth Technical Community College. Purgason was named as the winner of the award at the AMA Higher Education Symposium in November.
