OHIO’s digital storytelling earns national recognition

Ohio University Communications and Marketing claimed national recognition in digital marketing, earning the most Gold Awards of any university with standout projects.

Showcasing the power of innovative storytelling to connect and inspire, OHIO’s creativity took center stage at the 2024 Education Digital Marketing Awards, where its University Communications and Marketing (UCM) team claimed a total of 13 awards, with more gold than any university in the nation.

From heartwarming videos to cutting-edge digital campaigns, UCM’s visionary storytelling won nine gold, two silver and two bronze awards, celebrating the talent behind every project. 

Capturing the spirit of OHIO

Among the standout projects that earned UCM its prestigious Gold Awards was the OHIO Today Alumni Magazine website, which boasts a visually captivating design and connects alumni with campus life. The site’s engaging multimedia content allows alumni to stay connected with their OHIO community, regardless of location.

Another award-winning project, “hOUme for the Holidays – A Pawmark Original Film,” captured the essence of OHIO’s community spirit. This emotional film, filled with nostalgia and Bobcat pride, won a Gold Award for its ability to resonate deeply with viewers.

Campaigns boost OHIO’s reach

The Marching 110 Practice Facility fundraising website earned a Gold Award for its bold digital campaign designed to rally support for “The Most Exciting Band in the Land.” With its interactive design and compelling storytelling, the site captured the energy and passion of OHIO’s marching band.

Another project to receive recognition was the Go OHIO App, which won a Gold Award for its sleek and user-friendly design. The app simplifies campus navigation, enhances student experiences, and integrates seamlessly into daily campus life.

OHIO on the global stage

UCM’s Bobcats Covering the Olympics microsite also earned a Gold Award, providing an immersive platform that showcased Bobcat athletes on the global stage. The site highlighted the accomplishments of OHIO athletes competing in the Olympics, giving the University’s global community a chance to follow along in real-time.

The Bobcat in a Barbie World social media campaign earned a Gold Award for its playful yet impactful approach, garnering widespread attention and engagement across various social media platforms. The campaign used humor and creativity to turn heads online and elevate OHIO’s presence in pop culture during the summer 2023 Barbie movie release.

Silver and Bronze honors showcase UCM’s versatility

In addition to the Gold Awards, UCM earned several Silver and Bronze awards for projects such as the emergency web redesign, housing master plans and app promotion videos.

These honors underscore the team’s versatility in creating impactful content across a variety of platforms, ensuring that all communications meet the high standards expected from OHIO.
