Academic Achievement Center announces STEM Academy grand opening

The Academic Achievement Center (AAC) at Ohio University is thrilled to invite students, faculty, and campus partners to the grand opening of the STEM Academy on Thursday, January 16, 2025. This event celebrates the unveiling of the newly renovated STEM Academy space in Morton Hall 415, a hub designed to support student academic success in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics classes.

The event will take place in Morton 415 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring opportunities to explore the innovative new space, meet AAC staff and tutors, learn about the wide range of academic resources available, and students can enter a prize drawing. Complementing the event, two additional receptions will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in:

• Alden Library 230, AAC main office
• Bromley Hall 032, the new location of the Writing Commons

Light refreshments will be served at all locations.

Students are encouraged to visit any of the three locations to:

• Learn more about AAC services, including the STEM Academy, Writing Commons, and Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) programs.
• Sign up for weekly tutoring sessions.
• Enter a prize drawing for exciting giveaways.

Faculty and campus partners are invited to explore the AAC’s offerings and discover new ways to collaborate to support student academic success.

The STEM Academy represents the AAC’s continued commitment to fostering academic excellence and retention and graduation at Ohio University. The newly renovated space in Morton 415 is equipped with specialized furniture and collaborative spaces designed to support a wide range of student needs.

“This event is not only a celebration of the STEM Academy but also an opportunity to showcase the AAC’s role in empowering students and building partnerships across campus,” said Elizabeth Fallon, PhD, Executive Director of the Academic Achievement Center.
