The Center for OHIO Employee Excellence to offer three new workshops in February and March

The Center for OHIO Employee Excellence is excited to announce three upcoming workshops. The Center has several workshops planned in collaboration with various campus partners, starting with the first of these partnerships featuring Mac Stricklen, the University Ombudsperson.

Stricklen will facilitate two “Giving and Receiving Feedback” workshops, which will help managers and employees effectively give and receive feedback during the upcoming performance review discussions. Additionally, Michael Greene, Learning and Development administrator, will lead the supervisory workshop “Managing Workplace Conflict.” All workshops are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and registration is required.

These sessions will be conducted as live, hybrid workshops, with in-person participants meeting in Grosvenor West Room 111, and remote participants joining via Microsoft Teams. As in-person attendance is highly encouraged, remote registrations will be reserved for branch campus, remote, and hybrid attendees. Please reach out to Michael Greene for more details.

Supervisory Workshops:

  • Giving and Receiving Feedback - Feb. 20, 2025, at 10 a.m. – Both this session and the Feb. 27 session will draw on the model described in “Thanks for the Feedback: The Science and Art of Receiving Feedback Well” by Douglas Stone and Sheila Heen. The workshop will look at what their research tells us about some common obstacles to giving and receiving feedback in a way that is effective, digestible, and practical. This session will shift the focus toward giving well-crafted feedback to support supervisors in their preparation of performance reviews. Register for this Workshop
  • Managing Workplace Conflict - March 6, 2025, at 10 a.m. – This workship will guide participants through fundamental interpersonal conflict management skills and techniques, demonstrating how to apply these skills to manage team conflicts from a leadership perspective. Register for this Workshop

Faculty and Staff Workshop:

  • Giving and Receiving Feedback – Feb. 27, 2025, at 10 a.m. – Both this session and the Feb. 20 session will draw on the model described in “Thanks for the Feedback: The Science and Art of Receiving Feedback Well” by Douglas Stone and Sheila Heen. The workshop will look at what their research tells us about some common obstacles to giving and receiving feedback in a way that is effective, digestible, and practical. Register for this Workshop
