
Ohio University Eastern appoints Dr. Richard W. Greenlee as interim dean

Ohio University Eastern has appointed Dr. Richard W. Greenlee as the interim dean of campus and community relations, effective May 16, 2025.
Dr. Greenlee has served as a valued member of the Ohio University community since 1990; he currently serves as an associate professor of social work. Additionally, Dr. Greenlee has previously served as the dean of Ohio University Eastern, the interim dean of Ohio University Zanesville, the associate provost for Appalachian Access and Enrichment Programs and chair of the Department of Social Work. Across each of his roles, he has made significant contributions to the University’s mission through his leadership and dedication to student success.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the University, our campus, and the community I grew up in one more time,” said Greenlee. “I look forward to maintaining the momentum Dean Rohall has created during his time as dean and working with our exemplary faculty and staff to continue to grow and enhance the outstanding educational experience that we have been providing for the residents of the Ohio Valley for over 67 years.”
With a Ph.D. in Social Work from The Ohio State University and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Greenlee is well-respected across the academic community and within his field. His distinguished career at Ohio University has been marked by numerous honors, including the University Professor Award in 1994, the Student Affairs Faculty Contribution Award in 1999, the Dean's Outstanding Teacher Award in the College of Arts and Sciences in 2001 and the Presidential Teacher Award in 2005.

His expertise and leadership will undoubtedly guide Ohio University Eastern. We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. David Rohall for his years of outstanding service to Ohio University Eastern.”
As interim dean, Dr. Greenlee will work closely with students, faculty and staff to support the University's mission and maintain a focus on academic excellence, student engagement and community enrichment. His leadership will be instrumental in ensuring the continued growth and success of Ohio University Eastern as it navigates this period of transition.
