Ohio University’s Career and Leadership Development Center (CLDC) will host its spring Career and Internship Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, in the Baker University Center Ballroom. The bi-annual event takes place both fall and spring semesters and is free for students and alumni to attend.
There are more than 100 employers currently registered to attend this year’s Career and Internship Fair, according to Aaron Sturgill, associate director of employer relationsfor the Career and Leadership Development Center. Those employers represent career and internship opportunities in sales, communications, research, non-profits and more, Sturgill said, with a growing number of employers registering each day.
Registration for the Career and Internship Fair is not required but is highly recommended. Students can register for the event here.
This semester, the fair will also be paired with a Pre-Conference and Bobcat Breakfast, both of which have been successes in the past.
Spring Career and Internship Fair Pre-Conference
The Career and Internship Fair Pre-Conference will take place from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Living Learning Center. Students and alumni are encouraged to attend the free workshops to assure readiness for the fair while helping them excel in their career development and exploration.
Free headshots and six workshops will take place. Pizza will be provided for those in attendance.
The Career and Internship Fair Pre-Conference workshops include:
Check-In and Professional Headshots – 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in LLC 102 and 104. While checking in for the Pre-Conference, free professional headshots will be taken by a professional photographer.
The Handshake Before the Handshake– 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in LLC 102 and 104. Participants will learn about tools to research employers, connecting virtually with professionals and navigating the CLDC’s career platform, Handshake.
All That and A Bag of Mints – 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in LLC 102 and 104. Participants will learn what they need to be successful at the fair and what they should bring that day.
Prepare Your Wear for the Fair – 11:30 a.m. to noon, in LLC 102 and 104. Participants will learn the meaning of professional dress and how to make what is in their closet, or the CLDC’s closet, work.
Winner, Winner Interview Dinner – 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. in LLC 102 and 104. Tips in acing an interview meal will be provided over pizza.
The FOAM is Real (Fear of Awkward Moments) – 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in LLC 102 and 104. Participants will learn how to take their elevator pitch and turn it into an elevator conversation to avoid awkward moments.
Slide into their DMs (The Professional Way) – 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in LLC 102 and 104. Participants will learn tools for connecting with employers after the fair and how to take the important connections you’ve made and turn them into lasting relationships.
Students are required to register for the Career and Internship Fair Pre-Conference.
Bobcat Breakfast
The Bobcat Breakfast is a meal and networking opportunity designed to allow job seekers attending the Career and Internship Fair a chance to connect with many of the employers, including OHIO alumni, participating in the fair. It will take place on February 13, before the fair, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the Baker University Center 5thfloor atrium.
