In hindsight, it maybe wasn’t the best idea I’ve ever had to try to write about Ohio University’s Marching 110. My personal experience with the topic—I was in the band’s flag section from 1990 to ’93—makes it an easy topic to report on; but, being so close to the material makes objectivity challenging.

The name Jerry Sloan echoes throughout the hallways of Ohio University. A 1959 graduate of the E. W. Scripps School of Journalism, Sloan taught in the E. W. Scripps School of Journalism from 1992 to 2001 and inspired countless students, including Dan Farkas, BSJ ’98, CERT ’98, MBA ’15, now an instructor of strategic communication at OHIO.

President and CEO of Achillion Pharmaceuticals and Ohio University alumnus Milind Deshpande, PHD ’87, was determined to create a drug with better outcomes, one that could cut the treatment time and intense side effects experienced by patients.
