Moving & Surplus has a staff of three full-time movers. They are responsible for moving anything from a box to an entire building's contents.
We also provide fork lift operations. The department is equipped with a forklift with maximum lifting capacity of 9,000 pounds. We also have other resources for moving heavy equipment such as presses, centrifuges, fume hoods, kilns, etc.
Moving and Surplus provides delivery services for items that ship to 110 S. Shafer Street (Central Receiving). Our team will work to coordinate and ensure proper delivery of your item(s) to your campus location.

Stage, table, and chair rental is available to all departments and student organizations of Ohio University's Athens Campus. Tables and chairs are rented on a first come first serve basis. Set-up is available upon request at additional cost.
Stage rental fees will vary depending on size and configuration. Typical stage sizes available: 16ft x 16ft, 16ft x 24ft, and 16ft x 32ft.
Surplus is charged with administering the disposition of surplus/excess property in compliance with applicable laws.
Any department that declares as excess state or university property will contact Moving & Surplus at 740.593.0463 with a listing of their surplus items. The items will then be scheduled for removal from the department for disposition. See: Procedure for Disposition of Surplus/Excess Property Procedure No.55.071
Surplus has reusable items available for purchase by university departments and the public at The Ridges, Building #9. Store hours may vary each semester and university break, so please check our homepage for our current hours of operation.
