The IT Finance & Staffing portfolio provides leadership of IT's financial and workforce management capabilities, ensuring that OHIO IT is financially sustainable and that the workforce is engaged, empowered, and equipped to deliver meaningful results.

IT Financial Management

Developing a sustainable funding model to manage inflationary costs, optimize product/service levels, and invest in strategic priorities through elevated IT financial narrative and executive engagement.

IT Leader Community of Practice

Evolve the IT Leader Community of Practice to focus more deeply on fewer, high-priority, organization-wide changes with an emphasis on shared understanding, commitment, and accountability in cultivating consistent ways of working across portfolios and product teams.

Notable Accomplishments

  • Empowered & grew talent through OHIO IT Development Programs

    To date, we have successfully run 8 development program cohorts, fostering both leadership and career growth opportunities across the organization.

    • 48 participants have been accepted into various program cycles
    • 40 participants successfully completed their development programs and 95% have been retained at the University
    • 2 graduates have transitioned to new opportunities outside the organization
  • Launched IT Leader Community of Practice

    The IT Leader Community of Practice, charged with Cultivating Excellence in IT Leadership, was launched in mid-2024 to support the ongoing and emergent needs of IT People and Product Managers through transformative change, while increasing collaboration and reducing silos.

In 2023, OIT eliminated 9 positions and reinvested $680k in savings into market salary adjustments to mitigate staff retention risks.  

In 2024, OIT paused hiring 7 positions in support of President Gonzalez’ directive and eliminated 1 position due to efficiencies and outsourcing of Canvas support to reduce/defer $600k in staffing costs.
