Data Center firewall replacement successful
The University has several firewalls in the OHIO data center that block unauthorized access to the network while still allowing outward communication. Since early April, the OIT Network Engineering team has been working on migrating the OHIO data center firewalls from outdated Juniper technology to Cisco Next-Generation High Availability firewalls. This was a complex endeavor impacting all applications hosted in the data center, as well as access to some cloud-hosted applications. As part of the overall Network Upgrade Project, this effort marks the successful culmination of many hours of work and the involvement of several OIT teams. These firewalls protect the many applications provided to our constituents from unauthorized access and are a critical part of the overall foundational infrastructure supporting the University’s many systems.
