Mixed Stream Recycling
Ohio University has a recycling system that is Mixed Stream. Sorting is not required. Place all clean cardboard, paper, bottles, and cans in your recycling bin. Do not bag your materials.
If you are unsure what to do with items or have any questions about recycling on OHIO's campus, email recycle@ohio.edu. Below is a detailed list with common examples.
Recycle
- Mixed Paper: letterhead, colored, envelopes, magazines, newspapers
- Glass: rinse out containers, labels do not need removed
- Metal: rinse out cans and items that are food contaminated
- Cardboard
- Plastics #1-#7: plastic bottles, milk jugs, detergent bottles
Do Not Include
- Plastic bags
- Milk cartons
- Liquids
- Food waste
- Styrofoam
- Electronic waste
- Batteries
