Conditional Admission

  • Lack the requisite coursework or professional experience
  • Have an undergraduate GPA lower than 3.0
  • Have not taken the GRE or GMAT

Please note that students with conditional acceptance are not eligible for financial aid.

  • ITS 2140 (Introduction to Information and Telecommunication Systems)
  • ITS 2300 (Data Communications)
  • ITS 3100 (Internet Applications and Networking Systems)
  • ITS 4020 (ITS Strategy)

Completion of these hours with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher will confer full admission status.

If you have substantial professional experience but do not have a 3.0 undergraduate GPA, you may be admitted to the residential MITS program conditionally. Upon completion of the first two courses in the core curriculum (ITS 6000, ITS and ITS 6250) with a cumulative GPA of 3.0, you will attain full admission status.

How to Apply

The Ohio University Graduate College works together with each graduate program to process and review your application. You submit all application materials to the Graduate College, where your materials are gathered together for the academic program. Visit the Graduate College website (opens in a new window) for details on how to apply for graduate admission to Ohio University.

The MITS graduate director will screen applications to determine if the minimum requirements for admission to the program have been met. The final screening is done by the MITS Graduate Admission Committee, which ranks qualified candidates based on academic record, professional experience, GRE/GMAT, recommendations, and in the case of international students, TOEFL scores.
