Jeremy Murphy, M.A.

Cohort 2022

Jeremy Murphy (M.A. San Diego State University) received his Bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in English. Before coming to OU, he taught as a Lecturer at Utah Valley University, primarily teaching introductory courses. He also spent a year doing nonprofit work at a think tank in Washington DC.

His research focuses on queer geographies, critical rhetoric, and theories on space and place. He has received many awards, including the Peter Raposo Servant Leadership Award, Outstanding Graduate Student Mentor, and a Top Paper award from the National Communication Association. Jeremy has served as the Associate Basic Course Director since 2023. His favorite question is “huh?”
