Tiffany Arnold was raised, has worked, and studied in Appalachia her entire life. Her research interests involve rural health disparities and the role that culture plays in decision making for Appalachian young people. In addition to the courses she teaches, she often facilitates trainings for various organizations around the region on Appalachian cultural competency.  Arnold also takes part in the Appalachian Teaching Project through the Appalachian Regional Commission that seeks to involve students in community engaged projects in the region. 

Her focus with community engagement is primarily on Appalachia and Appalachian cultural competency. It is her goal to help others see this region for the dynamic place that it is. Arnold teaches many classes on Appalachia as well as partners regularly with organizations like Community Food Initiatives, Little Cities of Black Diamonds, and various community health departments.
