Join Army ROTC

High School Students

Your future starts today! Round out your college experience by participating in other campus activities as well. You can have the best of two worlds, civilian and military, and get a college experience unlike any other.

If you're interested in attending college at Ohio University while learning what it takes to become an Army officer, ROTC may be right for you. Army ROTC teaches discipline and valuable leadership skills, along with military training. ROTC can also provide you with money for tuition and other expenses through scholarships.

If you're still in high school and you're interested in enrolling in Ohio University's Army ROTC program, please contact a member of our admissions staff or talk to your academic advisor about joining the Bobcat Battalion.

College Students

Through classes and field training, Army ROTC provides you with the tools to become an Army Officer without interfering with your other classes. ROTC also provides you with discipline to become a better student and can also assist financially with money for tuition.

If you're interested in enrolling in Army ROTC and you're in college, you can start by taking an Army ROTC basic elective course.

If you have at least two or more years remaining toward your undergraduate degree but not enough time to complete the Basic Course, you may be able to attend ROTC Basic Camp during the summer, which will enable you to continue on with the Advanced Course 3000 and 4000-level Army ROTC courses.

Basic Camp 

This camp, held at Fort Knox, Kentucky, is for those college students who want to join Army ROTC later in their college career and complete the program in two years. Cadets who are unable to complete the two 1000-level and two-2000 level courses and associated labs will also attend Basic Camp. The camp is a challenging and motivating 28-day training program. If not already on scholarship, upon completion of Basic Camp, you may earn a two-year scholarship. Ask the Bobcat Battalion Recruiting Operations Officer for more details.

National Guard/Reserve

If you are an enlisted soldier in the Army and interested in becoming an officer, find out more about opportunities for soldiers.

The Simultaneous Membership Program allows you to attend Army ROTC and serve in the U.S. Army Reserve or Army National Guard at the same time. It gives you an opportunity for additional training and experience. Cadets serve as Officer trainees in the Reserve or National Guard while completing college. You can earn Reserve/Guard pay and benefits in addition to your Army ROTC allowances.
