Jolley awarded for leadership in regional science association

Dr. Jason Jolley, associate professor of economic development and director of the Master of Public Administration program at Ohio University’s Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs, was awarded the Leadership Award by the Mid-Continent Regional Science Association at their 49th annual meeting earlier this month.

“Jason has been stalwart within our organization for a number of years,” Dr. John Leatherman, the executive director of the MCRSA, said previously.

Jolley has held a long-standing commitment to the organization, members of which are interested in using the tools of regional science to help solve applied problems in rural and urban areas at the local, state and national levels. Jolley was elected as the organization’s vice president in 2015, to the organization’s executive committee as president-elect in 2016 and as the organization’s president in 2017. Jolley’s term as MCRSA president concluded at this month’s meeting, and he will continue to work with the organization in his capacity as a past president.

“I was honored to receive the MCRSA’s Leadership Award,” Jolley said. “MCRSA is an important venue for the regional science community to share their work and inform best practices. I look forward to continuing to serve the association as we prepare for our 50th anniversary celebration.”

MCRSA membership consists of campus-based teachers and researchers, outreach educators, public and private analysts, consultants and many others. The disciplines represented within the group include economics, planning, geography, business, sociology and public administration. While the majority of membership is generally located in the central United States, MCRSA has active members throughout the world.
