Athens, OH- Over 350 enthusiastic students and community members packed the Walter Hall Rotunda on February 24 to hear from reddit.com founder Alexis Ohanian and Alan Schaaf, Ohio University alumnus and founder of Imgur.

If you weren’t one of them, you now can view the video recap here.

Ohanian visited Ohio University as a part of a 200-stop, 77-college tour promoting his book, “Without Their Permission.” Along the way Ohanian shared a network of young entrepreneurs who are already making a difference online. Ohanian encouraged students to follow up on one’s ideas.

“Ideas alone are worth nothing; execution is everything,” said Ohanian during the event.

Reddit.com bills itself as “the front page of the internet” with nearly 115 million monthly users. Co-founder Ohanian has appeared twice on the Forbes 30-under-30 list. He is also an investor, with stakes in more than 70 start-up companies.

On Imgur, users can upload, share, comment and vote on images. Schaaf, founder of Imgur started the company out of his dorm room at Ohio University in 2009. Imgur has over 130 million registered users.

Alex Harshaw, a senior media arts studies student, was researching reddit’s origin and learned of Ohanian’s book tour. Harshaw e-mailed Ohanian asking him to include Ohio University on his book tour.

The Center for Entrepreneurship is a partnership between the College of Business and the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs.

The event was sponsored by the Ohio University’s Center for Entrepreneurship, the Innovation Center’s 3D Lab, TechGROWTH Ohio and Jackie O’s Pub and Brewery.
