Geoff Dabelko to discuss global environmental issues on WATH radio

Geoff Dabelko, a professor in Ohio University’s Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs, will be the featured guest on the Party Line talk show with Dave Palmer on WATH radio from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Wed., Sept. 4. Dabelko is the author of two books, Environmental Peacemaking, and coming out later this month, the 6th edition of Green Planet Blues: Critical Perspectives on Global Environmental Politics. He will discuss a number of subjects:

• What are key developments in international efforts to address environmental challenges?
• Are there links among environment, peace and conflict?
• What is environmental peacebuilding and can cooperative environmental management be a way to rebuild after war?
• Are there links between climate change and security?
• How should older adults prepare for a warmer world and do older adults hold key insights for building climate resilience?
• What is the Grey-Green Alliance that Dabelko and colleagues are working to build?

Dabelko has been a faculty member at Ohio University since 2012 and served as director of the interdisciplinary Environmental Studies Program for six years. He grew up in Athens and returned here after more than 20 years working in Washington, D.C., most recently at the non-partisan Woodrow Wilson Center where he still holds a senior advisor position. In addition to his long-time work on environmental peacebuilding, climate change and security, and natural resources and conflict, Dabelko is partnering with colleagues on ways to help older adults in age-friendly communities become more resilient in the face of climate change—something they are calling the Grey-Green Alliance. Dabelko has been interviewed on television and radio, including by NPR, the BBC, the Washington Post, the Associated Press, the New York Times and many others.
